Community Giving
Giving back to the community has been a CPP priority since the company’s inception in 1956. This mandate reflects the legacy of CPP’s founder, John Black, who devoted time and resources to philanthropic activities. The company actively supports the communities in which its employees live and work by budgeting a percentage of earnings to contribute to various causes and organizations.
Consistent with its corporate vision, CPP’s philanthropic activities today focus on contributing to programs that support people, promote educational opportunities, and help underserved communities. Our commitment to corporate citizenship also extends to providing high-quality products and services that are socially sound and conducting our business in an environmentally responsible manner.

Corporate Giving
Charitable donations to local and national nonprofit organizations near our offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, Washington, D.C., and the greater Minneapolis area help communities in various ways. We also give to organizations that provide national and international support efforts.

Some of the organizations CPP is pleased to support include the following:
- Adopt-A-Classroom invites the community into the classroom in support of teachers and their students. By adopting a classroom, donors nation-wide form partnerships with specific classrooms in their communities by providing financial and moral support. The result is a meaningful contribution to education in which donors experience the impact of their efforts and celebrate in a classroom's success. www.adoptaclassroom.org
- Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization working to improve the health, independence and social integration of people with physical disabilities through sports, fitness and recreation programs. http://www.borp.org/about/index.htm
- Family Giving Tree partners with more than 200 Bay Area social service agencies to fulfill the holiday wishes of children who would otherwise go without gifts, among other programs.
- Haven House provides transitional housing for 23 homeless families from East Palo Alto, Belle Haven, and other areas.
- LA Times Family Fund Fire Relief -The Times, KTLA-TV Channel 5 and the McCormick Tribune Foundation created a relief campaign to raise funds for agencies that help those affected by the fires.
- Martha’s Table’s mission is to serve the needs of the less fortunate in the Washington, DC community through food, learning, healthy living, recreational and family support services. http://www.marthastable.org/

Minnesota American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, providing relief to victims of disasters and helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. http://www.redcrosstc.org/aboutus.cfm
- Resource Area for Teachers (RAFT) provides thousands of Bay Area teachers and community groups with learning materials.
- Second Harvest Food Bank collects and distributes more than 27 million pounds of food each year to low-income children, adults, and seniors.
- White Bear Lake Food Shelf is the pool of over 50 volunteers that take in, stock and distribute the food. Without these volunteers there could not be a Food Shelf.
- Women’s Recovery Association of San Mateo County assists women, girls and their families in recovering from chemical dependency and its secondary effects. WRA treats the whole woman and facilitates her healing with dignity and respect. http://www.womensrecovery.org/

Employee Community Involvement
CPP’s employees play a big part in the company’s community giving efforts. The company encourages employees to volunteer their time and matches their fundraising efforts.

Recent CPP employee participation includes the following:
- AIDS/LifeCycle is co-produced by the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and is designed to advance their shared interests to end the pandemic and human suffering caused by AIDS. www.aidslifecycle.org
- School backpack drive through the Family Giving Tree: Employees participated in a backpack drive to ensure disadvantaged schoolchildren had what they needed to start the school year.
